France considers US no longer a mediator in Ukrainian conflict

Paris, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the United States has ceased to be a mediator in the Ukrainian conflict, having regained its status as a country that supports aid to Kyiv, the capital's television informed.

After meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, with whom he signed agreements in several areas, including defense, Macron noted that the United States had signed a similar agreement at the G7 summit held in southern France.

The document confirms the United States’ renunciation of its neutral status in the confrontation between Moscow and Kyiv, stated the French president, who had received his US counterpart, Donald Trump, at the Palace of Versailles after the G7 summit concluded.

He also underscored that the White House now supports, “along with my nation, the provision of military aid to Kyiv,” an option previously rejected by Trump, who, since taking office, has sought closer ties with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Macron considered that this also implied support for the unilateral punitive measures implemented by the West against Russia.

The French head of State previously argued that the European Union could not act as an intermediary in the Ukrainian conflict, given its provision of material aid to Kyiv, such as the 90 billion euros it approved to support the former Soviet republic.
