The donation reaches 15 days of the double earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude that caused human and material damage in seven states in the north of the country, with particular force in La Guaira, Caracas and Miranda. This emergency grant will be to support the operations of the Venezuelan Red Cross, reported the Venezuelan News Agency.
The money was channeled through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and will serve to strengthen “humanitarian actions” to communities affected by the emergency.
In a message posted on its social media, the IFRC expressed that the OPEC Fund stands in solidarity with the people of Venezuela, “one of our valuable member countries, after the devastating earthquake” that claimed lives, caused injuries and brought hardship to countless communities.
The text emphasized that his thoughts are with all affected during this difficult time.
President-in-Office Delcy Rodríguez said last night in a post on Telegram that her country “will always appreciate the solidarity of the international community.”
In this regard, he mentioned the more than two thousand tons of humanitarian aid sent by 28 countries, which are being distributed with “transparency and efficiency” to families affected by the double earthquake.
With solidarity, work and hope, we will get ahead and rebuild a stronger country, she said.
