The Cuban foreign minister stated that this meeting targets those who denounce, dissent from, and fight against the neoliberal, imperialist, fascist, and far-right measures promoted by the US government.

Rodriguez wrote on his X profile, “The means to achieve this do not matter, nor do the victims or the double standards. All it takes is a new lie, from someone with a record of creating them, and a good propaganda machine that they already control.”

The diplomat had previously warned that this meeting, which he described as McCarthyist, would attempt to justify the existence of supposed dangers instigated by progressive forces, leftist organizations, social movements, and anyone fighting against the oppression, exploitation, racism, war, intervention, and imperialist brutality unleashed by the current US government.

Rubio convened foreign ministers from more than 60 countries for a meeting in Washington to address the alleged “resurgence of transnational far-left terrorism.”

The initiative has generated concern both in and outside the United States, due to fears of political manipulation of national security mechanisms and the use of the concept of terrorism as a political tool to justify extreme surveillance measures against sovereign individuals and nations.
