The film, by Spanish filmmakers Jose Antonio Torres and Antonio Manuel Rodriguez, intertwines theatrical language, music, and historical testimonies to evoke the experiences and legacy of the Iberian poet during his time on the island.
This audiovisual project examines the deep impact the journey had on the author’s sensibility, from his time in the nation’s capital to his voyage to the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba.
The film is part of the official competition at Ficgibara 2026 after screening in several events, most notably the Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.
The event in the so-called White Village of the Crabs continues the multicultural project founded in 2003 by Cuban filmmaker Humberto Solas (1944-2008), conceived as a bridge for the convergence of art and creators from the Global South.
