Archaeology Congress brings together experts from 25 countries

Santo Domingo, Jul 15 (Prensa Latina) The XXXI International Congress of Archaeology of the Caribbean brings together more than 200 researchers, archaeologists, anthropologists, historians and cultural managers from 25 countries to debate heritage preservation and research challenges.

The meeting, organized by the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic with the support of the Ministry of Culture, is held at the Indotel Centro Cultura Digital, in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo.

During several sessions, 96 papers will be presented by specialists from 29 universities, 21 scientific institutions and 19 governmental and private entities.

Participants will discuss topics related to archaeological research, cultural heritage conservation, new scientific methodologies and strategies for the protection of historical assets in the region.

At the opening of the congress, the Vice-Minister for Cultural Heritage, Gamal Michelén, highlighted the importance of strengthening the training of new generations of anthropologists and researchers and highlighted the contribution of digital technologies to documentation, protection and dissemination of the archaeological legacy.

The central interventions were made by the president of the Organizing Committee, Adolfo Jose Lopez Belando, and the president of the García Arévalo Foundation, Manuel García Arévalo, who emphasized the role of the congress as a space for scientific exchange and international cooperation.
