In a post on the social network X, Qalibaf maintained that security must be comprehensive; otherwise, it will not exist for anyone.
Referring to the Strait of Hormuz and crude oil exports, he stated, “The equation of this war is clear: either we all participate, or no one does.”
“In a region where we cannot sell our oil, no one else will either. And if our security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure will be safe,” he added.
The Iranian Parliament Speaker further stated that security in the Strait of Hormuz depends on the absence of US forces and reiterated that the situation in that waterway will not return to what it was before the war.
In recent days, the United States has launched successive waves of attacks against targets on Iranian territory, while Tehran has responded with missiles and drones against military bases, facilities, and sites it considers linked to Washington across several countries in the region.
The escalation is taking place despite the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran last June, which provided for a ceasefire and the start of negotiations to reach a broader agreement.
