The announcement, made by PIT-CNT Vice President Carolina Spilman, follows criticism of what the labor movement considers the government’s failure regarding the Private Pension Fund Administrators (AFAPs).
The PIT-CNT rejects the government’s failure to include the creation of a state agency to centralize individual savings in the proposed modifications to the pension system.
It argues that this was part of the agreements reached in the Social Dialogue promoted by the Executive itself.
The government of President Yamandu Orsi ultimately decided that pension funds would remain with the AFAPs.
It also proposes an amendment to diversify these companies’ investments abroad, which the PIT-CNT opposes.
The August 11 strike would be the third mobilization by the labor federation during the term of Orsi, who took office on March 1, 2025.
