Baghaei asserted in a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry that no order can justify such acts.
The spokesperson stated that Washington intends to sacrifice what remains of international humanitarian law and humanitarian values in favor of its war policies.
He also warned that attacks on civilian infrastructure, such as bridges and power plants, are a violation of international law.
Baghaei described those actions as acts of reprisal and collective punishment, practices that, he affirmed, are expressly prohibited and may be war crimes under both international law and US legislation.
The statements come after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iranian infrastructures, including bridges and power plants, in response to any attack by Tehran on ships or maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
