Russia expands attacks on Ukrainian ports of Izmail and Mykolaiv

Moscow, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Armed Forces again struck port infrastructure in southern Ukraine with missiles and drones, expanding their attacks to Izmail and Mykolaiv, the Defense Ministry informed on Friday.

The military institution announced on its official Telegram channel that the attacks struck a cargo ship that has been unloading military equipment in Mykolaiv, several naval drone facilities in Izmail, and fuel tanks in the port of Odesa, which had been the target of several previous waves of attacks.

Among the targets hit in Izmail, the Russian military entity mentioned a floating dock for storing and launching unmanned underwater vehicles.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the Donbas population from “the Kiev regime’s genocide,” according to President Vladimir Putin.

It also aims to counter national security risks posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)’s eastward expansion.
