“We are not anyone’s vassals,” Nicaragua tells European Union

Managua, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) "We are not anyone's vassals," the Government of Nicaragua replied to the European Union, rejecting a new statement from the bloc that it described as interventionist.

According to a statement from the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs—reported in local media—the statement in question reflects a mindset rooted in the practices of the colonial past.

The Sandinista government acknowledged receipt of the document and asserted that the sovereign people and government of Nicaragua do not accept pronouncements regarding their territory, their people, or their democratic processes.

“Faced with yet another expression of the antiquated attempts at domination by those who once—through catastrophes and ambitious, bloody historical adventures—believed themselves to be masters of the world,” Managua reiterated its rejection of such stances.

The statement emphasizes that Nicaragua is a free country with the right to make its own decisions regarding its institutional framework and to choose its own paths and models for exercising democracy.

Furthermore, the Nicaraguan government highlighted that the defense of these sovereign rights is the result of a history of struggle and sacrifice by the people.
