In a message marking the 73rd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks—seen by Prensa Latina—the movement, comprising some six organizations, noted that Cuba is facing one of the most complex scenarios of aggression.
In this regard, it denounced the blockade Washington has imposed on Havana for over six decades—intensified by measures the United States has pushed against the island and policies that, according to the organization, seek to subjugate peoples who do not align with imperial interests.
The movement also denounced the resurgence of interference practices in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as attempts to reverse the gains made by progressive forces through political, economic, and diplomatic pressure.
According to the statement, while the United States steps up interference in political processes contrary to its interests, some governments in the region are contributing to the diplomatic encirclement and paving the way for new forms of intervention.
“If the peoples do not wake up, their nations will be plundered and driven to unprecedented levels of poverty so that the Empire can maintain its own welfare state,” warns the document, which calls on Latin American peoples to remain alert and organized.
