The Iraqi News Agency referred to an official source that confirmed the resumption of passenger and freight traffic through the crossing.

The measure came after Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah announced on Saturday that the crossing would reopen within 48 hours.

Kuwait had closed the facility as a preventative measure following several drone attacks.

Kuwaiti Army spokesperson Colonel Saud Al-Atwan informed on Thursday that the crossing had been repeatedly attacked by “hostile drones,” causing material damage, although no casualties have been reported.
