Georgieva posted on her X profile, “I am happy to be in Uruguay, and I am eager to learn more about a country that has consolidated a solid track record of macroeconomic stability and resilient institutions.”
Uruguay has not been in debt to the IMF since 2006, although it maintains ties with this agency and has received assessments and technical advice on fiscal and monetary matters.
The IMF chief will be received by Orsi at the Executive Tower.
Georgieva also expects to hold talks with Economy Minister Gabriel Oddone and Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU) Director, Guillermo Tolosa.
