The Brazilian government’s official agenda announced that Lula will receive Velasco at the Planalto Palace this morning.
The Mexican foreign minister will meet later with Vieira at the Itamaraty Palace to chair the plenary session of the 6th Binational Commission, the main mechanism for political dialogue between the two countries.
The program also includes the signing of cooperation agreements and a joint press statement at the conclusion of the talks between the delegations.
The subcommittees on Economic, Trade, and Financial Affairs and on Political Affairs met on July 22 and 24 at the Mexican Foreign Secretariat (SRE), as part of the preparations for this meeting.
The call for the 6th Binational Commission was agreed on June 10, when Lula and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum held a 40-minute video call to review the bilateral agenda.
Lula and Sheinbaum reviewed, accompanied by Vieira and Velasco, energy cooperation projects between the state-owned oil companies Petrobras and Pemex, the updated trade legal framework, and the progress in health, tourism, public governance, science, technology, and innovation.
