The launch of the book, which was published by Ediciones La Estaca and the “Jose Marti” Cultural Association of Concepcion, took place at the headquarters of the Confederation of Metallurgical Workers with a large audience and the participation of academicians, intellectuals, politicians, union leaders, and diplomats.
PhD. Pedro Lovera Parmo, a historian from the University of Santiago, highlighted, in statements to Prensa Latina, the significance of this work, which brings together a multitude of voices to reflect on the political, human, and revolutionary legacy of Fidel Castro.
Lovera Parmo said, “His struggles and reflections accompany us as we undertake emancipatory processes in the Global South today.”
Cuban Ambassador to Chile, Oscar Cornelio Oliva, emphasized at the event that the most impressive aspect of this book is its comprehensiveness. It is as comprehensive as Fidel himself was in his life, he affirmed.
Oliva noted that delegations from many countries are currently traveling to Havana to participate in the Colloquium commemorating Fidel Castro’s 100th birthday, and the Chilean delegation is among the largest in Latin America, with more than 150 members.
“…Y En Eso Llego Fidel” is a title that alludes to the renowned song by Cuban singer-songwriter Carlos Puebla and contains works by Katiuska Blanco, a journalist who has devoted herself to researching the life of the Commander-in-Chief; singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez; Argentine thinker Nestor Kohan; journalist, founder of Cronica Digital website, and former Chilean minister, Victor Osorio, among others.
