“It is an honor to be back on the Royal Ballet and Opera stage for five nights,” the artist stated on digital platforms, expressing his gratitude for sharing the moment with guest dancers from the Birmingham Royal Ballet and Acosta Danza—the latter being the company he leads in Cuba with equal passion and mastery.
The program features a diverse mix of classical and modern pieces, accompanied by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia under the direction of Paul Murphy.
At the start of the show, the Cuban performer takes on—for the first time in his career—Jose Limon’s *The Moor’s Pavane*, alongside guests from the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Next, guest artists from Acosta Danza and the Birmingham Royal Ballet perform *The Nutcracker Suite in Havana*, followed by the *Diana and Actaeon* pas de deux (choreographed by Agrippina Vaganova), performed by the British company.
The stage lights up once more with Acosta’s talent as he presents the duet *Nosotros* (Us)—choreographed by Raul Reinoso and Beatriz Garcia—accompanied by a pianist and a cellist.
As if the excitement of an evening worthy of its stars were not enough, the Cuban dancer and choreographer concludes the program with the piece *Rooster*, in which he performs the lead role.
This piece features choreography by Christopher Bruce and music by The Rolling Stones.
