The piece was crafted by workers from the National Electric Transmission Company who, according to the leader, have created “another marvel” to pay tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
Speaking via “Citizen Power” media outlets, the Co-President announced that Nicaragua will participate this week in commemorative activities marking the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth, with events scheduled at universities and in municipalities across the country.
She highlighted the Commander-in-Chief’s significance to revolutionary struggles in Latin America and the Caribbean, and recalled his visit to Nicaragua as well as the ties he maintained with the people of the Central American nation.
“Honoring the leader of the Our-American and Caribbean Revolution, Commander Fidel Castro Ruz—who was with us, who visited Nicaragua, and who inspired revolutionary struggles,” she stated.
The metal sculpture depicts Fidel dressed in olive green, wearing guerrilla boots and the red-and-black armband of the 26th of July Movement.
