DPRK receives international congratulations on historic anniversary

Pyongyang, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) expressed that it has received congratulatory messages on the 81st anniversary of the country's liberation from Japanese colonial rule.

The KCNA noted that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas sent a basket of flowers to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to commemorate the heroic event.

Palestinian Ambassador to North Korea, Omar al-Faqih, delivered the gift and a congratulatory letter to the DPRK leader.

Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, sent a basket of flowers to Kim for the historic anniversary.

The liberation of Korea, which took place on August 15, 1945, marked the end of 35 years of Japanese colonial occupation and paved the way for establishing an independent State.

The date has been commemorated since then as a milestone of national dignity and a symbol of the international friendship that North Korea maintains with solidary peoples and governments.
