Accra:” Fidel Castro lives in solidarity between Cuba and Angola”

Luanda, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The Association of the Community of Cuban Residents in Angola (Accra) said that the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), lives in solidarity between both countries.

On the day when the birthday of the statesman is commemorated, the Accra said that his memory remains in those who shared their time, in the works carried out by several generations and, above all, in those who remember history with honesty, defend dignity and take responsibility for the future.

Through a statement, the organization paid tribute to one of the key figures in contemporary history of Cuba and the world, and highlighted his life and career, marked by the commitment he made from his youth to transform the reality of his country, then characterized by inequality and dependency.

He turned his life into a permanent battle for sovereignty, dignity and social justice , said the message, which recognized that Fidel is part of the life history of millions of Cubans who grew up listening to his ideas on the construction of a new society, internationalism and solidarity.

“In remembering Fidel, we do not pay tribute only to one man: we also pay homage to a generation. To the generation that literate, studied, worked, built, taught, produced, researched, defended the homeland and brought Cuban solidarity beyond our borders,’ highlighted Accra.

He extols the Cuban presence in Angola, where that expression of brotherhood was truly transcended by the effort of thousands of men and women who shared knowledge, sacrifices, and hopes with the Angolan people and even their lives.

“The Cubans living in Angola reaffirm that historical memory is also built from distance, from daily work and from the responsibility of preserving the ties that unite Cuba and Angola,” added the note, which recalled that 100 years after its birth, the leader continues to be the subject of analysis, debate and historical evaluation.

The Accra considered that the date invites an exercise of reflection, responsibility and commitment to the future, to think about what values we retain, which mistakes we must overcome and what we can contribute to the new generations.

“The best way to honor a life dedicated to social transformation is not to turn memory into a motionless statue, but to keep alive the ability to think, rectify, learn, serve and build,” the statement remarked.

It also added that it is up to the Cubans living in Angola to preserve their identity, strengthen unity, respect differences and work for a community increasingly organized, supportive and linked to the Angolan society that welcomed them.
