Sobreira told the state-run Bolivia TV channel, “We have a bilateral agenda between Brazil and Bolivia to address cross-border crime problems such as smuggling, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. It is a problem we always keep in mind in our discussions.”
The ambassador confirmed that a Brazilian delegation will arrive in the border town of Guayaramerin, in Beni, where this project, aimed at coordinating security operations in high-risk areas along the border between the two countries, will be announced.
Bolivian Government Minister Marco Antonio Oviedo stated that both parties will launch such a plan to coordinate and implement operations along the two nations’ border.
Oviedo pointed out that, with that program, Bolivia and Brazil will activate “permanent operations at several points along the border to try to stop and dismantle this wave of truly worrying crimes in Santa Cruz, but also in Guayaramerin and Cobija.”
