The lecture, titled “Fidel: The Universal Dimension of his Contribution to Humanity,” was delivered by PhD. Xavier Diaz-Lacayo at the Rigoberto Lopez Pwrez Bookstore.

The session addressed the Cuban leader’s career, his values, and the influence of his thought on the Sandinista Revolution.

Diaz-Lacayo emphasized on the importance Fidel placed on knowledge as a tool for understanding and transforming reality—a concept present from his earliest political and social analyses.

In this regard, he noted that Castro’s work *History Will Absolve Me* shows a method based on studying reality, identifying its problems, understanding their causes, and formulating solutions.

The speaker also highlighted Fidel’s enduring interest in areas such as education, health, agriculture, science, technology, the economy, the environment, and geopolitics—fields he studied systematically to translate knowledge into the capacity for decision-making, organization, and sovereignty.

Furthermore, he drew a connection between the 1961 Cuban literacy campaign and the National Literacy Crusade carried out in Nicaragua in 1980, noting that both experiences reflected the conviction that knowledge expands a people’s capacity to understand their reality and participate in its transformation.

During the lecture, it was explained that Fidel’s thought can be understood as a process that integrates studying, understanding, interpreting, diagnosing, prioritizing, organizing, deciding, acting, evaluating, and rectifying, all aimed at achieving a profound transformation of society.
