Cuba awards Friendship Medal to Colombian Ambassador Jose Noe

Bogota, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) Colombian Ambassador Jose Noe received the Friendship Medal, conferred by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, in recognition of his significant contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.

The award was presented by Cuba’s Ambassador to Colombia, Carlos de Cespedes, who highlighted the diplomat’s deep respect for the Cuban Revolution and his active boosting of bilateral cooperation projects.

Noe, who served as ambassador in Havana during the administration of President Gustavo Petro (2022-2026), is also recognized for fostering collaborative relations between institutions, promoting and developing commercial and economic ties, and encouraging cultural exchanges.

The presidential resolution further commended his efforts to secure significant official donations from his country to Cuba during disaster situations, as well as his contribution to developing bilateral relations, cooperation regarding medical scholarships, and alignment on multilateral agenda issues.

The Colombian ambassador stated that he accepts the award as “a tremendous personal honor and as living proof of the deep historical, cultural, and fraternal bonds that inextricably unite the two peoples.”

He remembered that when he took on the duty of representing his homeland before the “dignified and generous” people of Cuba, he carried with him deep gratitude for the island’s assistance regarding the peace process, and arrived with the intention of conveying that sentiment.

He also noted that in the Caribbean nation, he always found open doors among institutions, “a frank willingness, and a genuine desire to build bridges.”
