Iran warns it will respond against US interests if attacked

Tehran, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps warned on Tuesday that any attack on the country's infrastructure will be met with actions against US energy facilities and strategic interests.

Mohammad Reza Mohebi, spokesperson of the corps, told Iranian state television that Washington is aware that it would face a severe response if it makes new military threats against Tehran.

Mohebi noted that this capacity to respond has prevented the United States from achieving several of its stated objectives, including forcibly altering the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.

The spokesperson also said one of the leading results of the recent conflict, in Tehran’s view, was to demonstrate the vulnerability of infrastructure considered vital by its adversaries.

He declared, “The enemy believes that Iran’s weapon arsenals are limited, but, contrary to those expectations, Iran continues to produce smart, guided missiles.”

These statements come amid a renewed escalation of tensions between Tehran and Washington, after US President Donald Trump announced on Friday a tightening of economic sanctions on Iran and called on other countries, including China, to increase pressure on the Islamic Republic.
