The director of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), Ricardo Valencia, pointed out that during the seventh month employed people rose to 24.5 million, 578,000 more compared to the previous year, while the number of unemployed reached 2.1 million.
The sectors that contributed the most to job creation were public administration, education and health; commerce and vehicle repair; and construction.
The rise in employment was driven mainly by self-employed workers, the DANE detailed.
At the end of July, informality stood at 54.5 percent, and unemployment for the population between 15 and 28 years old was 14 percentage points, the agency detailed.
