Palestine focus debate again at Venice Film Festival

Rome, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) The Israeli aggression against Palestine is once again a prominent issue at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which runs from this Wednesday to September 12 in the famous Italian city.

The last-minute admission of the documentary “Naza,” by Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, has made the conflict one of the most visible political issues at this year’s festival, which promises other screenings and public events regarding the situation in Gaza and the genocide of the Palestinian population by the Israeli army.

The film, produced by British newspaper The Guardian, James Wilson (JW Films), and executive produced by filmmaker Jonathan Glazer, will compete for the Golden Lion award and will premiere on September 10.

The official synopsis of the Venice Biennale states that “Naza” uses footage filmed at night from Tel Aviv rooftops to show the systems used in the mass airstrikes on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Abraham and Szor are two of the four co-directors of “No Other Land,” the 2025 Oscar-winning documentary.

The presence of this issue at the prestigious event, the oldest in the world, is not limited to the screen.

The Venice4Palestine collective renewed its campaign this year, demanding concrete actions from the Biennale and the Festival in support of Palestine.
