The Iranian agency Mehr, citing the IRGC’s public relations office in Kermanshah, explained that four of the dead were from the IRGC’s Aerospace Force.

The IRGC’s sub-commander in Deyr county, Bushehr province, Abdolkarim Poladifar, further indicated that several security personnel were injured.

The attacks came amid a new escalation of tensions between Washington and Tehran, following increased incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on ships and bases that house US forces.

The US announced on Tuesday a new wave of attacks inside Iran, after several weeks of relative calm following clashes since late February.

In June, Washington and Tehran reached a memorandum of understanding to cease hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, and start negotiations on a final agreement, but its implementation was subsequently stalled by disagreements over its terms and the security of this strategic sea route.
