Cuban film *Calle 232* set for nationwide release

Havana, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban feature film *Calle 232*—directed by Rudy Mora and focusing on the value of caregiving in a society marked by an aging population—is set for its national premiere at the Yara cinema in the capital.

The screenplay, written by Mora himself and produced by Adriana Moya, explores the reality faced by caregivers in the Caribbean nation. *Calle 232* was screened during the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, where it won a collateral award from the Quisicuaba Association for its sensitive handling of the subject matter.

A co-production between the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) and the Mexican production company DMM Films, the movie delves into the life of Atila Romero. A renowned film director left disabled after an accident, he finds himself abandoned by family, friends, and fans alike amidst the crisis.

Only Abel—a young man renting a room in Romero’s home—decides to set aside his own dreams to become his caregiver.

The lead cast features talented actors Jorge Ali, Isabel Santos, Luis Angel Batista, and Chabely Diaz.

In a video message last year, Jorge Ali—who resides in the United States—described the team’s work as impressive and of high quality.

Meanwhile, acclaimed actress Isabel Santos noted at a previous press conference that the film tackles a very difficult subject—one that all Cubans have experienced in some way.
