The “Vo Thi Thang” elementary school, located in Havana’s Playa municipality, was the first educational center to benefit from the initiative in May, funded by donation campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City and other regions of the country.
A report by TB Solaro, a member of TBGP, to which Prensa Latina had access to, noted that the systems comprising eight solar panels and 10- or 15-kilowatt batteries have already been installed at the “Vietnam Heroico” and “Le Van Thang” children care centers, the “Nguyen Van Troi” elementary school in Cerro municipality, and the “Ho Chi Minh” polytechnic institute, all of them in Havana.
Meanwhile, work has begun on installing similar modules at the “Cesareo Fernandez” elementary school in Playa municipality and the “Nguyen Van Troi” elementary school in Diez de Octubre municipality.
The remaining 13 educational institutions will be equipped with solar panels and batteries in the coming months, based on a list coordinated with the Ministry of Education.
This list includes vocational pre-university centers in the western provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Havana, and Matanzas, as well as the “Solidaridad con Panama” Special School.
TB Solaro noted on its Instagram profile that a stable electricity supply for many Cuban communities not only allows classes to continue without suspension but also provides students with better conditions for learning and accessing knowledge.
