The Cuban representatives —led by Javier Aguiar, First Deputy Minister of the Food Industry—were received by Ilya Shestakov, Head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries, Prensa Latina learned.
The Russian representative noted that the world is currently witnessing shifts in global trade, changes in the geography of demand, and the emergence of new logistical routes and partnerships.
At the same time, however, new opportunities are opening up to create higher-value products from aquatic biological resources, introduce advanced technologies in fishing and aquaculture, and apply digital solutions for monitoring and assessing fish stocks, he added.
Over the years, the International Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo has established itself as a key platform for open dialogue within the sector among government, businesses, the scientific community, and producers.
The event serves as a major international congress and trade fair for the national fishing sector, showcasing the industry’s key achievements—ranging from capture fisheries and aquaculture to a wide array of seafood products.
