Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made these remarks in response to a question about the EU’s request for the Chinese government to supply hybrid vehicles to the European market at 15 percent.
Guo said the proposal’s specific questions should be addressed to the relevant Chinese authorities.
The spokesperson underscored that economic and trade relations between China and Europe are beneficial, and not a zero-sum game where one party must lose for the other to win.
The official noted that maintaining openness and cooperation, and resolving trade disputes through dialogue and consultation on equal terms, serves the common interests of both parties.
Guo affirmed that developing China’s electric vehicle industry offers consumers worldwide high-quality, competitively priced products, while also contributing to the green, low-carbon transition.
