During the visit, it was reported that power generator sets are being installed at the sources and pumping stations of the water supply systems, and that progress is being made in preparing the sites for photovoltaic solar farms and energy storage facilities.
Diaz-Canel also toured the “La Polar” Stadium, located in the Cuban capital—notable for being the first in the country to feature synthetic turf—according to a report on the Presidency’s website.
The president was briefed on plans for a third phase of optimization for the sports facility, which includes expanding the stands and installing modern technology.
Diaz-Canel advocated for boosting neighborhood sports and fostering integration between schools and communities to develop disciplines such as soccer.
The third stop of the day was the charging station located at 23 and J streets in Havana’s Vedado district; this facility will have a positive impact on the surrounding population, as its 18 charging points will enable the powering of tricycles used for solid waste collection.
