The 435-square-meter mural appeared on the wall of the Urals State Pedagogical University College, with images alluding to the events of 1963, when the leader of the Cuban Revolution visited Sverdlovsk.
The work is part of the artistic program of the project “Russia and Cuba: The Cubicity of the Cultural Codes”, which currently includes the creation of three similar murals.
The authors of the play, Vladislav Tajtaulov, Nikolai Berdichenko and Dmitri Yablonsky, based their work on an episode from the two-day visit by the Cuban leader.
The episode is about a three-hour speech addressed to the workers of Uralmashzavod that had great impact among those present.
The initiative is organized by the Russian Society of Friendship with Cuba. It is supported by the Sverdlovsk Regional Government, the Urals State Pedagogical University, the Latin America House and the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
