De la Espriella and Fernandez will discuss “issues related to security, the fight against drug trafficking, and the battle against transnational criminal organizations in the region.”
Government sources noted that the two presidents will also discuss mechanisms to deepen coordination between the two countries, strengthen the exchange of information and capabilities, and advance joint actions against structures involved in international drug trafficking and other crimes.
Reports state that the Executive describes the meeting as part of “the National Government’s strategy to consolidate more effective regional cooperation in the face of criminal threats that transcend borders and require coordinated responses among States.”
