Vietnam keeps solidarity with Cuba and calls on the United States to end unilateral measures of encirclement and the energy blockade against the island, stated the General Secretary of the Communist Party and President of the Republic during the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
He also urged the US government to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Addressing the international situation, the head of state admitted that economic fragmentation, supply chain disruptions, climate change, natural disasters, pandemics, and new technological risks are affecting the development and stability of numerous countries.
He proposed restoring trust based on the UN Charter and international law to prevent competition from turning into confrontation, differences into conflicts, and technological advances into new divisions.
The UN Charter and respect for international law, he insisted, constitute pillars of the world order and must be fully respected, alongside with independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and each nation’s right to choose its own path of development.
