“Currently, 36 banks are connected.
Twenty-one were required by law to join, but 15 did so voluntarily,” Nabiullina declared during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the government.
Nabiullina thus announced the successful integration of the digital ruble platform into the operations of nearly forty credit institutions.
Previously, the Central Bank Governor had announced readiness for the widespread introduction of the digital ruble starting September 1.
Meanwhile, Alla Bakina, Director of the Central Bank’s National Payment System Department, announced that transactions using the new currency would be completely free of charge for Russians.
The regulatory body established a monthly limit of 300,000 rubles for topping up digital wallets.
