Qatar describes current Middle East crisis as an “earthquake”

Doha, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani warned that the region is facing a scenario comparable to an "earthquake," the consequences of which call into question current premises regarding security and stability.

During the opening of the Qatar Economic Forum—organized in collaboration with Bloomberg and held alongside the United Nations General Assembly—the Qatari head of government called for the establishment of a regional framework based on respect for sovereignty and the principle that no state should pose a threat to another.

Al Thani noted that the repercussions of recent crises transcend national borders and urged efforts to reduce tensions and preserve channels of communication between the parties involved.

In this context, he reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to mediation efforts and assured that the country would continue to serve as a reliable energy supplier and a long-term investment partner.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Qatar has worked with regional and international stakeholders to keep diplomatic channels open, help reduce tensions, and support agreements aimed at containing escalation.

Despite the complex regional landscape, Al Thani asserted that Qatar’s economic fundamentals remain solid.

As part of this strategy, he announced the creation of the “Doha Investment Platform,” designed to manage and expand the Qatar Investment Authority’s domestic investment portfolio and accelerate long-term value creation.
