Crown Prince Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah made the statement during Kuwait’s address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Al-Hamad Al-Sabah affirmed, “Kuwait reiterates its support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tension and achieving a peaceful resolution to the current conflict with Iran, and commends the efforts and mediation led by Qatar and Pakistan.”

The crown prince also underscored the need to reach sustainable regional understandings based on “a firm commitment to the principle of good neighbors and respect for States’ sovereignty.”

He urged that such understandings be grounded in non-interference in internal affairs, refraining from the use or threat of force, ceasing support for proxy groups and militias, and addressing the security concerns of all countries in the region.

The Kuwaiti leader said his country, along with the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain) and Jordan, has been the target of “heinous Iranian aggression” since February, allegedly involving the use of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. jdt/iff/to/mche
