Previous sessions covered issues such as the universal definition of heart failure, ischemic heart disease, aging, the importance of iron for cardiovascular health, and risk factors, among other scientific presentations.
Eduardo Rivas, president of the Cuban Society of Cardiology (SCC), speaking at the 4th Cuban Symposium on Heart Failure and the 1st Cuban Symposium on Cardiomyopathies and Rare Cardiac Diseases, talked about improving the quality of care for heart failure patients.
Rivas noted that 20 million people die annually worldwide, a figure foreseen to rise to 23 million by 2030, and that in Cuba alone, more than 32,000 citizens lost their lives in 2024.
The SCC president noted that the event is being held under the slogan: “Diseases do not begin in the hospital; only those who prevent them will achieve success.”
