Kurtulmuş made these remarks during an analytical meeting held at the Turkish Parliament, where he discussed the speech delivered by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, as well as the protests that took place during Netanyahu’s address.
On behalf of the Parliament and the Turkish people, Kurtulmus expressed his gratitude to Erdogan and highlighted the keen interest with which he followed the President’s address to the General Assembly.
Referring to the boycott of the Israeli Prime Minister’s speech, the parliamentary speaker stated that those possessing “mercy and justice”—along with a sense of human values—left the hall or avoided attending so as not to share the same space as Netanyahu.
“It was not merely a political protest; it was a statement by the vast majority of attendees—indeed, almost the entire hall—proclaiming: ‘We are here, and we are human beings,'” he noted.
Kurtulmus added that Netanyahu “arrived in New York in haste and left as if fleeing,” and maintained that, regardless of where they are, he and his associates will have to answer for the actions attributed to them.
The protests were also linked to the continuation of military operations despite efforts to reach a ceasefire, Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, and military operations in Syria and Lebanon.
