Brazilian election campaign enters final week

Brasilia, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) The Brazilian election campaign enters its final week on Monday, with 12 candidates and a contest centered on President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Senator Flavio Bolsonaro.

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) stated that the first round of voting will take place on October 4, with 158,765,543 people eligible to vote nationwide.

If necessary, a runoff is scheduled for three weeks later.

Brasil 247 reported that voters have enough information to compare the backgrounds, political experience, and proposals of the leading contenders.

The digital newspaper disclosed that Lula comes after having served three presidential terms and governed Brazil since 2023; consequently, his administration can be assessed based on concrete results.

Regarding Flavio Bolsonaro, the website underscored that the Rio de Janeiro senator built his political career within the movement led by his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

On October 4, Brazilians will elect the president, vice president, governors, 54 out of 81 senators, and federal, state, and district lawmakers.
