According to the official news agency IRNA, the official noted that Tehran is exploring legal and diplomatic avenues to lift the restrictions and restore previously operating air routes.
Shiroudi indicated that Iran has already submitted the documentation regarding its complaint against the US measures to the ICAO.
The official explained that direct flights between Iran and several European countries are subject to restrictions, forcing airlines to rely on connections through regional hubs—primarily Istanbul—as an alternative.
In recent days, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates suspended flights to and from Iran in response to new US sanctions targeting Iranian aviation.
Additionally, Iranian and Iraqi authorities held talks regarding the possibility of establishing flights between Tehran and Najaf as an alternative to the Tehran-Baghdad route.
However, flights between Tehran and Najaf were subsequently cancelled as well, according to the information released.
