While screening the Cuban film “¿Porque Lloran Mis Amigas?” (Why Are My Friends Crying?) during International Week 2026 at Multimedia Nusantara University, Gonzalez Grau stated that the people remain steadfast despite US hostility.

The ambassador said the screening shows that our culture is alive, strong, and ready to be shared with sister nations like Indonesia.

During the event, the Embassy showed images of the Caribbean nation, including photos of Sukarno’s visit to Cuba in May 1960 and the days that Argentine-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara stayed in Indonesia in July 1959.

Speaking about the International Week organized by the higher education institution, the diplomat noted that the event strengthens ties between several countries and peoples, while also enriching mutual understanding of other nations’ customs and cultures.

The film, premiered in 2018, was among those screened in early September at the Cuban Film Festival in Jakarta, where Fidel Castro, historic leader of the Revolution, was honored on his 100th birthday.
