The electoral authority, which published the roster on its website to encourage voter registration, explained the process for the various elected offices, allowing users to track proceedings in real time, the newspaper Le Nouvelliste reported.
Voters can now view the real-time registration status of candidates for all contested positions, including 10 presidential candidates, 204 Senate candidates, 604 candidates for the Chamber of Deputies, and 285 candidates for State Electoral Commission council seats.
The first among the ten presidential hopefuls to register on the institution’s online platform were Jocelerme Privert, leader of Ayiti Transfome, and Claude Joseph, of Compromis pour le Developpement, Le Nouvelliste added.
Ricardo Jean-Pierre (Nationalist Party), Gary Bodeau (Rekonsilye Group), and Wilson Jeudy (Vision-Action-Realization) are also on the list, which remains subject to change in accordance with the Electoral Decree governing the elections.
The remaining presidential candidates are Wilner Joseph (Viktwa Group), Joseph Maxo (Awakening of the Citizens), Munir Joseph Moura (Mobilization for Progress), Gandy Dorfeuille (Together We Are Strong), and Moïse Durocher (Sol Ayiti).
Now, the ten or so contenders for the presidency who have signed up via the online process—open until October 9—must submit their documentation to the CEP; the council’s authorities will publish the final list in due course, the newspaper reported.
Additionally, 30 of the 105 political organizations authorized by the CEP managed to register as candidates by fulfilling various bureaucratic formalities, as well as the key requirement—mandated by the Electoral Decree—of proving a membership of 30,000 individuals.
