Luna, who gave a presentation at the event regarding the use of anesthesia in veterinary procedures, remarked that it is highly beneficial to have forums where science contributes to solving societal problems.
“Latin American nations have lagged somewhat behind First World countries in terms of research; therefore, a congress that allows us to share our research with colleagues helps raise the region’s standards,” he stated.
Luna, who also serves as director of the UNAM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, emphasized that, in his view, Cuban professionals are highly qualified and their academic curricula are very comprehensive.
“Initiatives of this kind help further strengthen bonds of solidarity between our countries through a field as important as science and research,” he added.
The University-Society 2026 International Congress, which began yesterday, will continue working sessions aimed ay providing various sectors of Cuban society with science-based solutions.
