The event will continue the debates begun on Wednesday during the opening of the biennial ECLAC meeting, which runs until Friday in Santiago de los Caballeros.
During the opening ceremony, the Dominican Republic assumed the presidency of the United Nations regional agency until 2028, replacing Peru, which had held that responsibility for the last two years.
President Luis Abinader affirmed that the country would commit to strengthening dialogue, sharing experiences, and boosting agreements to address common challenges.
ECLAC Executive Secretary Jose Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, in turn, called for understanding and management of the transformations the world is undergoing as a prerequisite for driving sustainable structural changes in the region.
Thursday’s discussions address, among other issues, regional integration, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), productive development, macroeconomics, and fiscal policy.
