According to press reports, the students advocated for public education, social rights, democracy, and an end to the “6×1” work schedule (six days of work followed by one day of rest).
Paulo Victor de Almeida Coelho, a law student at the Rio de Janeiro State University, stated that he supports Lula because he believes it is necessary to ensure better prospects for future generations.
The young man called for increased investment and better conditions so that all his peers could study and complete a degree at a public university.
He also criticized the policies implemented during the administration of former President Jair Bolsonaro (2019–2022)—father of Flávio—noting that, in his view, they were accompanied by budget cuts and infringements on social rights.
Meanwhile, Raissa Bispo, a design student at the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, expressed her support for Lula, stating that she considers Flávio Bolsonaro a threat to democracy.
Student organizations have made public education a central issue in their mobilizations, alongside the defense of social and labor rights.
Thus, the event in Rio de Janeiro joined the wave of political and social actions that have been multiplying across the country in the lead-up to the new and decisive vote.
