According to the Vatican, the 71-year-old Pope Leo XIV will be admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Polyclinic this week for surgery to remove a nodule detected in one of his lungs during a routine medical check-up.

Holy See sources indicated that the postoperative recovery period is estimated to last seven days.
