Guatemala’s Foreign Ministry (MINEX) reported on a meeting between Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martinez and his Mexican counterpart, Roberto Velasco, to conduct a visit to the border region in early 2027.

The visit intends to advance dialogue regarding customs management, railway interconnection, and human mobility.

Velasco’s visit looks forward strengthening bilateral ties in economy and security.

This is his first trip to Guatemala after taking office in April.

He and Martinez reaffirmed the strategic nature of the bilateral relationship, and their commitment to continue strengthening dialogue and cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
