The campaign, dubbed “Green and Yellow Are Ours,” was launched by Federal Deputy Andre Janones of the Rede party. It seeks to reclaim patriotic symbols for the general population—symbols whose use in political events has been associated with Bolsonarism in recent years.
Lula himself joined the initiative by posting a photo on his social media channels showing him wearing the national soccer team’s jersey and a sticker reading “Brazil belongs to Brazilians”—an allusion to national sovereignty—along with the caption “Let’s go, Brazil!”
The call to action originated from the “Lula’s Army” WhatsApp channel, managed by Janones, who urged his followers to post the images simultaneously to maximize the campaign’s reach across digital platforms.
For this initiative, participants were encouraged to wear national team jerseys or green and yellow clothing, or to display the Brazilian flag, while also making the “L” hand gesture—the initial of the leader’s name and a signature move of his supporters.
The strategy also aims to broaden the reach of the message supporting Lula among citizens who do not necessarily identify with the Left but believe that the national flag and colors belong to all of Brazilian society. Janones also called for a massive *cacerolazo* (pot-banging protest) in various Brazilian cities against Flávio Bolsonaro, timed to coincide with an interview the senator was giving to TV Globo.
