Cuban Culture Day celebrated in Bolivia

La Paz, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) — With the screening of the documentary *Tras las huellas del Che* (In the Footsteps of Che) at the Bolivian Cinematheque, the Cuban Embassy and the "Nuestra América" (Our America) Collective celebrated Cuban Culture Day, which is observed today.

During an artistic evening that brought together people from this Andean land and the homeland of Jose Marti, the Cuban Ambassador to Bolivia, Elba Rosa Perez Montoya, noted that this date is commemorated in this Latin American nation—as it is in other parts of the world—to mark the first time the National Anthem was sung, on October 20, 1868.

The diplomat also highlighted the value of Cuban culture, noting its significant achievements in fields such as music, the arts, and education.

Regarding the documentary focused on the “Heroic Guerrilla” (Che Guevara), she emphasized that Che was an integral part of Cuban culture, having held key roles in Cuba prior to his assassination in La Higuera on October 9, 1967.

As the culmination of a series of events dedicated to the “Hero” at the Bolivian Cinematheque in La Paz, the screening of *Tras las huellas del Che* followed earlier presentations of the films *Che, un hombre nuevo* (Che, A New Man)—directed by Argentine filmmaker Tristan Bauer—and *Di buen dia a papa* (Say Good Morning to Dad).

The latter is a Bolivian-Argentine-Cuban co-production, directed by filmmaker Fernando Vargas.

The “Nuestra America” Collective, an organization in solidarity with Cuba, has recently carried out various activities in Bolivia, showcasing the achievements of the Revolution across diverse sectors and repeatedly condemning the criminal blockade maintained by Washington.
